About Our Journey
Welcome to Lotus Buds Academy, an online private educational institution that offers a unique blend of classical, Buddhist, and STEM-integrated learning. Our mission is to nurture spiritually grounded, culturally empowered, and academically excellent students. We celebrate Afro-Indigenous heritage and global wisdom traditions, providing a rich and diverse learning environment for grades Pre-K–12.
Lotus Buds Academy was born out of a mother’s desire to provide her children—and others in her community—with an education that reflected their spiritual, cultural, and intellectual richness. Our founder, Shaviance Dor, an Army Chaplain Candidate, combined military discipline, Buddhist values, and educational innovation to create a virtual academy where older children teach younger ones, fostering leadership, confidence, and community.

Empowering Learning, Inspiring Growth
At Lotus Buds Academy, we offer a range of services designed to support and enrich the learning experience. Our online homeschooling curriculum for grades Pre-K–12 is comprehensive and engaging, designed to foster a love of learning and a deep understanding of the subject matter. We also offer a peer-to-peer learning and mentorship model, which encourages students to learn from each other and develop leadership skills.
Our services include enrichment programs in the arts, mindfulness, and cultural history, as well as parent and teacher training programs. We also offer live instruction and workshops through Google Classroom and Zoom, providing a flexible and interactive learning environment. Our curriculum is culturally affirming, rooted in Afro-Indigenous and global spiritual traditions, and integrates classical learning and peer teaching.
